What You Should See

So… y’know how ten brand new movies opened in Edmonton last week? We got nothin’ new this week. In that way, it might seem like a good time to catch up on some of the recent movies you’ve missed, but I’d actually recommend two movies that opened earlier this year, Hunt for the Wilderpeople and Train to Busan, both playing at Metro Cinema on Sunday. Heck, with the former playing at 2pm and the latter at 4:30pm, you could even see them back to back! We gave Hunt for the Wilderpeople — about a young boy and his adoptive uncle on the run from the law in the New Zealand wilderness — a pretty glowing review back in September, and Train to Busan — a very groovy Korean zombie movie — was so good it’s (spoiler alert!) earned a spot in our upcoming Top 10 Year-End Review to be published next week.

While we have your attention, though, and since we don’t reeeally have anything to talk about here, Things Arab Men Say, a movie shot right here in Edmonton (well, St. Albert, so the greater Edmonton area) at Jamal’s Barber Shop will be opening next weekend, one day only, on Sunday, January 8th, also at Metro Cinema.  I’ll leave just leave the trailer here.
