What You Should See

I don’t want to sound too down on the latest new movies, especially not with how strong some of the new movies are , but the truth is that there is precious little in the way of actual new movies this weekend because most of this weekend’s new movies actually opened on Christmas Day.  And, right now, in the post-Christmas afterglow of flus and family headaches, I just can’t gather a great deal of enthusiasm about anything.  The truth is that all of Little Women, Spies in Disguise, Ip Man 4:  The Finale, and She Never Died look at least reasonably good, and especially in the case of Little Women, I plan to see at least one or two new movies if I can find the time or energy.

That said, there are two general thoughts I have about seeing movies this weekend:

  1. I always planned to see the Ip Man movies eventually, but is it just me or have they, judging by the look of the latest trailers, sort of grown into a grotesque caricature of themselves?
  2. If you’re reading this, it may already be too late, but I noticed that all of The Lighthouse, Parasite, and Waves are playing at Metro Cinema today, on Friday, and those are all movies you really should see.

That’s it for this weekend.  So go forth, my pretties, and… pretend that life is worth living.  At least for the children’s sake.  Or something like that.  I don’t know.
