What You Should See
This weekend the two biggest new movies both at least skirt around the idea of superheroes and I’m going to recommend both pretty highly. Glass is getting pretty awful critic reviews (so welcome back again, M. Night Shyamalan!), but I still have a pretty good feeling about it as well as have a lot emotionally invested in its success (did ya see our pick for 2017 movie of the year?). Meanwhile Dragon Ball Super: Broly, which actually opened on Wednesday and is only playing Saturday this weekend, would probably be basically the same thing in terms of critical savaging and my own recommendation accompanying a feeling of badly wanting it to be good for personal reasons if not for the fact that barely any critics have reviewed it yet.
On the smaller side of the silver screen, we’ve got The Woman Who Loves Giraffes, The Great Buster: A Celebration, and In the Shadows of Everest, and I basically feel the exact and precise opposite applies in terms of critical sentiment and my own feelings from the last paragraph in the case of each one of these slightly stuffy-looking movies that got good reviews but I’m probably never going to see.
