What You Should See

I’m thinking this is mostly just a me thing, so I’m not actually expecting a lot of sympathy on this one, but am I really, seriously the only one who’s driven nuts by the “and” part of titles like Ant-Man and the Wasp?  I mean, I never know if the logo and the marketing materials and the various in-print interpretations are going to use an ‘&’ or an ‘and’.  These things matter to me, and I need to get it right!  And what is that ‘&’ anyway?  Just some squiggly, over-complicated symbology that’s, frankly, no easier than just writing an ‘a’ and an ‘n’ and a ‘d’ anyway.  Luckily cooler heads seem to be prevailing on this one and the vast majority seem to be going with ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp’ and not ‘Ant-Man & the Wasp’.

Oh, and you should probably see Ant-Man and the Wasp.  It looks pretty good.  “Pretty good”, not “really great”.

As for the weekend’s other major release, The First Purge, it looks like a pretty-take-it-or-leave-it affair.  I haven’t seen any of the Purge movies, so I’m probably not going to mess with what’s worked for me so far on this series, but if you’re into it, this Purge prequel looks very much like it’ll be staying on target.  A good middle ground, though, might be to simply watch the Purge episode of Rick and Morty again (there’s another title that eschews the use of ‘&’, we might win this one people!).

You can also catch the documentary Always at the Carlyle at the Princess this weekend.  It looks like the kind of thing I might normally recommend, but it hasn’t gotten great reviews, so…
