What You Should See

Whoooo feels like losing an hour this weekend?!  That’s right, it’s that time of year again, and if you’re lucky enough to work early on Sundays like me, then double bonus, that’s an hour less of sleep you lose right away without having the rest of the day to cope or resync your internal clock!  So I guess it’s lucky then that, with all of that time missing, there’s not too much to see this weekend.

I really thought A Wrinkle in Time looked like a winner when its trailer first came out, but… I mean, that’s an option that’s probably out the window now that we’ve seen the reviews.  I also thought Gringo looked pretty good and had a puncher’s chance of being a good comedy a lá Game Night, but it looks like that really didn’t work out either.  Of course The Strangers:  Prey at Night turned out predictably badly and I’m sure The Hurricane Heist (brought to you by the director of The Fast and the Furious! The first one!), whenever we do see reviews for it, won’t turn out much better.

That brings us, then, to the two real winners of the weekend, Thoroughbreds and Thelma, the former a vicious indictment of… something about society I’m sure, and the latter sort of a reverse superhero story that… I’m not too sure what it’s about either.  But I genuinely want to see both.
