What You Should See
So anyway, this first weekend of February is looking a lot like we’re still in “F*ck you, it’s January!” territory, and while I’ll go ahead and link to the Rotten Tomatoes scores for Rings, The Space Between Us, The Comedian, and Buddies in India, nothing inside of me could possibly recommend them. And I was really kind of hoping for The Space Between Us to not be a piece of crap too. Basically seeing any of this weekend’s new releases would be the moviegoing equivalent of appointing Ben Carson as your Secretary of Housing and Urban Development — I don’t hate everything about it, but… this is a joke right? ‘Cause doing that… really wouldn’t make any sense.
That leaves us only with the Chilean Neruda and the Canadian Kiss and Cry, both at Metro Cinema. A lack of critical reviews makes it hard to know what to make of Kiss and Cry, while the tremendous reviews for Neruda make it easy to recommend, so if you have to go out and see a new movie this weekend, I guess make it Neruda if only for familiarity. After all:
