Am I the only one upset that nobody’s showing Boo! A Madea Halloween here in Edmonton on its opening weekend? WTF? I mean, come on, we have bad taste here in Edmonton too guys!

Moving on, like last week with Ben Affleck’s The Accountant, it’s too bad that Tom Cruise’s Jack Reacher: Never Go Back probably won’t be worth your time (damnit, Tom Cruise, ya didn’t go back right!), but on the bright side, Ouija: Origin of Evil is a markedly, almost eerily superior sequel to its 2014 predecessor. There’s also Zach Galifianikis’ Keeping Up with the Joneses, but much like his movie Masterminds from only a few weeks ago, that going to see it seems like a very bad life choice. Also, fun fact, I totally knew how to spell ‘Galifianakis’ but misspelled the name ‘Zach’ in an earlier version of this post (I wrote it with a ‘k’ instead of an ‘h’ at the end).
On the lesser known, smaller, indie-er side of things, we’ve got four new entries, the American-produced American Honey, the British-American Denial and two Canadian productions with Mean Dreams and Juste la fin du monde, and unfortunately, of the four of them, it’s the two Canadians that are bringing up the rear of critical favour. If I were going to see one, I’d probably go for Denial if only for my fondness of Egyptian rivers.
