What You Should See

To a very select group of people, 2013’s Man of Steel is a masterpiece. It’s a headier, more contemplative film than most give it credit for, but it’s not a Marvel movie, it’s not a joyful movie, and a lot of you don’t seem to want to think too much when you’re watching seeing superhero movies. If you fall into that category, you’re probably going to have a tough time with Batman v Superman. It also might just suck. Our review will be up soon.

Other than that, it’s pretty much just a couple of smaller movies opening at the Garneau this weekend. Like last year’s When Marnie Was There (which was actually released in 2014 in Japan), Only Yesterday (which was actually released in 1991 [!] in Japan) will probably be another Studio Ghibli breakout hit in that nobody but select critics will see it, and if you’re a Janis Joplin fan, you’ll no doubt love Janis: Little Girl Blue. Whoever Janis Joplin is.

As for My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2? This will be the last time that movie will ever be mentioned on this website. I don’t even want to validate that movie’s existence with another sentence.
