What You Should See
It really does break my heart to see that Stuber probably isn’t a very good movie, because I love Dave Bautista and I looove Kumail Nanjiani and I really did laugh at the bad-guy-catching-the-gun-and-throwing-it-back-at-them bit. But it’s not looking great right now judging by critical response. Unexpectedly, though, the trapped-in-a-flooding-house-with-hungry-alligators thriller Crawl is getting a lot of love from critics, so that looks like a pretty good choice for some broadly popular, non-denominational moviegoing. We’ve also got the indie darling Wild Rose showing at Princess Theatre and Be Natural: The Untold Story of Alice Guy-Blaché showing at Metro Cinema, and both have gotten strong reviews.
So not really a lot to see in the sense of the irresistible pull of mega-blockbusters, but a real three-out-of-four-type weekend critically speaking. It’s at this point I’ll just go ahead and remind you that, as of this writing, Avengers: Endgame is a mere $14 million and change away from hitting the Avatar all-time record. We need to get this thing done! Go see Endgame again.
