What You Should See

Oh, another year, another year, another year.  And what have we here, what have we here, what have we here but a weekend with no good new movies to see, because, as with the dawn of every new year, “F*ck you, it’s January!”

This particular first week in January here in Edmonton is a little bit different though.  Not so much because of the horror movie Escape Room finally opening, a movie I didn’t even bother to find anything out about, but because one of the most acclaimed movies of 2018, If Beale Street Could Talk opens in our local cinemas.  Well, cinema, it’s only showing at the downtown Landmark here, but still, that’s a movie you might actually want to see.  That or Bumblebee, because, as the only Transformers movie that resembles anything close to not horrible, it needs to make a lot more money.

And, in further new movie news not in keeping with the normal theme of sh*t movies the studios would rather forget and therefore dump in January, Metro Cinema is hosting the Festival of Time event, featuring programming honouring  Indigenous art with all proceeds going to the preservation of indigenous studies.

So happy new year, everyone!  Let’s bring in 2019 by celebrating the diversity of all races, be they black, Indigenous, or even Cybertronian!
