What You Should See
I know what I’ll be watching this weekend, but it won’t be entirely voluntary. I mean, I’m not a slave, and watching The Mummy, the latest Tom Cruise action movie meant to launch an entire franchise of connected movies around Universal’s classic monsters won’t exactly be torture, but those reviews sure aren’t making it something I’m looking forward to so much as it’s something I’m somewhat obligated to watch to keep up with the demands of writing for this website.
As for the rest of this week’s new releases? Almost every one of them looks more interesting, including My Cousin Rachel (a.k.a., the Victorian incest movie), Frantz (a.k.a., the French-German cheating/deception movie), and Godha (a.k.a., the Indian wrestling movie). The true standouts of the week to me, however, are It Comes at Night, a really great looking psychological horror movie, and Paris Can Wait, which, despite not getting great reviews, which looks just lovely and stars a still very distractingly attractive Diane Lane. Oh, yes, and there’s also Megan Leavey, which has gotten very decent reviews, but I don’t care at all about dogs, so whatevs.
