What You Should See
What a grim weekend we find ourselves living in for new movie releases. I can’t honestly recommend any of this weekend’s major new movies, and that includes the one starring award-winning actors about the WWII-era German Resistance (Alone in Berlin). Baywatch is turning out to be one of the worst movies of the year, the new Pirates of the Carribean is exactly what you think it is, and Song to Song looks basically like the cynical, overly arty version of La La Land that’s also not any good. I guess if you have to see something new this weekend, it should be The Lure. I don’t know a whole lot about it, but I spotted the words carnivorous mermaid sisters, and that’s all I needed to know.
Of course, there’s also All Our Father’s Relations, which is a lot easier to recommend than the rest of this week’s releases, and even with the dearth of critical reviews of the documentary, it seems important enough that I thought it best to separate it from the others by putting it into its own paragraph.
