What You Should See

Is this a joke? Seriously, is Hollywood trolling us all this weekend? This summer’s been bad enough with remakes, soft reboots, and disappointing sequels of Ghostbusters, Independence Day, and X-Men, and now you’re trying to sell us a Ben-Hur remake? Remake Ben-Hur? And you even have the audacity to sell it as a Christian movie? What’s next? A remake of Gone with the Wind? Maybe we should revisit The Sound of Music’s.  I wonder how the von Trapps lived through the ‘60s! Why not a rebooted Graduate movie? Maybe we can finally find out if Miles Teller really is this generation’s Dustin Hoffman! What’s happening??? What the hell is wrong with you people?!!!!

… Speaking of Miles Teller [I guess], War Dogs opens this weekend, and it looks like it might not be a complete waste of time, Kubo and the Two Strings is actually looking like a real good use of your time, and Bryan Cranston’s The Infiltrator, which feels like it opened a million years ago, finally opens in Edmonton, and… well, I’d probably still see War Dogs or Kubo before it.

In actual good news, Fight Club (which is ripe for a sequel!) is showing at the Garneau this Monday, and Raiders of the Lost Ark (can’t wait for that remake!) is also showing at North Edmonton and South Edmonton Common on Monday.
