What You Should See

It looked like Jason Bourne was going to have this weekend all locked up, and while it’s still likely to top the box office, it turns out that even with the return of Matt Damon and director Paul Greengrass, nobody really likes it. That’s okay with us, though, because as we always say here at GOO Reviews, “F*CK SHAKY CAM!” That might as well be our mantra at this point.

Bad Moms, the week’s other major release is projected to do better than expected, but I’m still betting that because it’s also not looking very good and most of this year’s similarly crass comedies haven’t done well, it’ll land in the lower range of the top five. See it if you’re a bad mom I guess? Or maybe to prove how bad a mom you are, take your kids to see it too.

Nerve, the social-media-oriented thriller starring Emma Roberts and the more-annoying-but-less-hated Franco (Dave) actually opened on Wednesday, and… look, none of this weekend’s major new movies look very good, and you’d probably be better off watching any of Café Society, Captain Fantastic, Elvis & Nixon, or Last Cab to Darwin rather than Jason Bourne, Bad Moms, or Nerve. Or go see Star Trek Beyond again (our review will be up tomorrow). If people don’t support this Star Trek thing, we might only get one more sequel.
