What You Should See

Room? I guess? It’s showing again at North Edmonton and it’s certainly better than anything opening this week. With far less star power than The Divergent Series, The 5th Wave looks, sounds, walks and talks like yet another YA adaptation to be quickly forgotten, Dirty Grandpa might be fun but lacks someone like Seth Rogen to give you a real reason to go (and has Zac Efron, which gives you a real reason to doubt it), and The Boy is a horror movie most notable for starring the hot girl from The Walking Dead, and you can already see her in a different, much better horror show — The Walking Dead.

We are, however, closing in on something I am very excited about, Big Trouble in Little China showing on the big screen on Saturday, February 6 and Wednesday, February 10 at Scotiabank West Edmonton. Along with a bunch of other crazy old movies like Labyrinth, From Dusk Til Dawn, and True Romance, it looks like it’s all part of Scotiabank Theatre’s Week of old, unconnected movies gathered together for some bewildering reason (?) event. You could see Beverly Hills Cop on Friday, the Road Warrior on Saturday, and The Dark Crystal on Sunday! Or take the middle of the week off work (as if anybody in Alberta still has a job) and see The Dark Crystal on Tuesday, Looper on Wednesday, and Dirty Harry on Thursday! Or spend all day Wednesday watching Looper, then Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, then Big Trouble in Little China, and then wash it all down with a nice serving of The Thing! It’s all winning!

All I’m really asking, though, is that you make time for Big Trouble in Little China. That’s all that really matters.
