What You Should See

Oh boy, what a weekend. There’s a bunch of new movies that we all had reason to be looking forward to, and pretty much all of them sh*t the bed in one way or another (or in several different ways at once). In the Heart of the Sea is the only major release of the weekend, and it’s opening to mixed reviews because it’s boring, and all of Trumbo, 99 Homes, and Don Verdean, are at best decent and at worst severely disappointing, though bonus points to any of you who actually manage to catch 99 Homes which is only showing on Friday or Don Verdean, only on Sunday, both only at the Garneau. Also, Legend is now showing at Scotiabank West Ed, so if you’re the type of person who thinks a bigger screen might make a middling disappointment of a movie better, you now have options.

I guess out of everything opening I would recommend Trumbo… because of Bryan Cranston, though to be fair, Brooklyn is supposed to be really good, but… it’s just not exactly our cup of period romance tea.
