A Royal Night Out

Drunk Stoned Brilliant Dead: The Story of the National Lampoon

This Weekend’s Box Office Predictions

  2. The Good Dinosaur
  3. Creed
  4. Krampus
  5. Spectre

What You Should See

Krampus, Krampus, Krampus, oh Krampus. You Krampus, you Krampus, Krampus. K-R-A-M-P-U-S. So Krampus is the only major release this weekend, and it’s being called a return to ‘80s movie form akin to Gremlins…! So, uh, I guess you should see it…?

In other news, Legend finally opens after flirting with local release dates in early October and mid-November, and as much as I was once excited to see it, it’s gotten pretty mixed reviews since its original UK release way back in early September. Open to mixed reviews, keep pushing back the release dates, open months later only in art house theatres well after everybody’s forgotten about it? That sounds like a brilliant marketing campaign, dunnit? Really makes you want to go see it now, amirite?

The even more British A Royal Night Out is here for anyone looking at a romantically revisionist take on the end of World War II, Mavis! might be worth a go, and anyone who still remembers what National Lampoon is or was may want to take a look at Drunk Stoned Brilliant Dead, but you’ll have to catch it at the Garneau on Sunday at seven if you want to see it this weekend.
